THE difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is that successful people do all the things unsuccessful people don't want to do. Most people don't want to work more than they have to. They do the minimum they are
paid to do. That's not the way to get ahead, always be ready to go the extra
mile. I came across this very motivational piece at lifehack.org and couldn’t
resist sharing it with you. It has formed the title for this edition.

Successful people always
get their priorities right. Significantly successful people don’t first check
their email upon waking up. They do other things that are of higher priority,
they claim and dictate their day. What else do highly successful people do upon
waking up in the morning? Here are more important tips...
Wake up really early. Since
time is an invaluable asset, successful people try to gain and control as much
time as is possible, and waking up early is one important way. Many people
argue that no one aiming for outstanding success should be caught in bed after
5.30am unless of course you slept very late sharpening your success skills, not
watching idle TV. So try and wake up 15 minutes earlier than your routine and
gradually adjust. Some few years ago, Jim Citrin at Yahoo! Finance did a survey
of CEOs. Check this list.
· General
Motors' CEO Dan Akerson says he will "rarely sleep past 4:30 or 5,"
waking up so he can talk to GM Asia before it gets too late.
· Apple
CEO Tim Cook is known for getting up and sending out company emails at 4:30 in
the morning. By 5am he can be found in the gym. And he works late too, priding
himself on being the first in the office and the last out.
· Disney
CEO Robert Iger gets up at 4:30 every morning.
· Benjamin
Franklin probably sums all these up by saying "Early to bed and early to
rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise." Franklin planned his routine
around waking up at 5 a.m. and asking himself "What good shall I do this
day?"
How can you wake up early,
begin small, put the alarm far from you so you must stand up to snooze it, if
you must and put on the lights immediately the alarm sounds. Go for it!

Have a time to meditate.
Some call this the God time, others say it’s the “me time”. Whatever you call
it, highly successful people have a time set aside to mediate, pray and commune
with their Creator, or themselves. Christians call this the Quiet Time, and
argue that it is the most important time in your day. Quiet time helps you
communicate with your Creator, replenish your strength, connect with your inner
man and give you peace unknown. "Meditation more than anything in my life
was the biggest ingredient of whatever success I've had." That's what Ray
Dalio, the billionaire founder of Bridgewater Associates -- the world's largest
hedge fund firm -- explained in 2012.
I know these can be
challenging, but remember you are built for challenges.
