Secrets To Being Focused For Greater Productivity

LISTENING to Bishop TD Jakes talk about focus and intentionality highlights the point that many people and businesses struggle for one major reason; they strive to be all things to all men rather than being something to some men, in other words, they lack focus.

I can clearly relate to this. Growing up, I really wanted to be all things. I wanted to be a music conductor, I wanted to be an explorer, a Biologist, a Naval Officer, you name it. I remember that I also wanted to be an internationally acclaimed secret service agent, a spy (ssshhhhh, I still find this attractive I must admit). Good things I wanted to be growing up. Growing up, nothing is wrong with this, but as you grow you see the need to distill your efforts and concentrate.

You cannot afford to be scattered and unorganized and hope to generate energy strong enough to move mountains, conquer territories and make an impact. Your life and business must be intentional, focused and directed. You must come to a point of realization that you are not made for all men. Note that being focused or intentional does not detract for your innate skills and abilities, which most people have varied.

How can one be, and stay focused. Here are three quick suggestions.

Define your audience. Audiences are varied and heterogeneous. Everyone cannot be for you, everyone will not like your face or your product or service. Find your audience and work it.

Research your identified audience and understand its peculiarities. Use that knowledge to engage or produce to satisfy your specific audience.

Finally make continuous effort to reinvent yourself. Life is dynamic, so should you.

Whether you succeed or not, is really in your hands. Remember that when you set the sails, God sends the wind.
