I’VE always known that strange and many times sad news sell. I was taught in media
school that it is normal for a dog to bite a man, but news for a man to bite a
dog. That’s an aberration. Have you wondered why majority of the news stories
that trend are stories of war, gloom, loss and depression; in short they are
noise that disrupt your normal life flow?
One
is truly tempted to ask about this attraction of human nature to sad news,
gossip, gloom and despair? And it’s been proven over and over again that
exposure to these sad and gloomy broadcasts, these noise, negatively impact on
your inner strength and mental well-being. You are what you are exposed to, hard
but true.
How
do you control the noise around you, and take charge of your environment? How
do you develop and maintain inner strengthen in your daily pursuits. For most
entrepreneurs and business owners, how do you keep your energy level high
despite what the economy and society are saying? Does being tough mean living
in self-denial? Absolutely not. For we know that despite all the sad and
depressing things we hear and see around us, there are perhaps much more
victories and triumphs, many a time, untold. Here are three suggestions.
Control
what you see, hear, touch or smell. Learn to put off your phone, Tablet, TV,
Radio and other tech toys. Be very selective of what you get from the mass
media, what you expose yourself to. Know what is good for you and what is not.

Avoid
the company of complainers. There are some people who complain about everything
and anything; it would seem that they were born to complain. They see the
negative side of life and everything around them. They complain about the weather,
the economy, the government, their work, their neighbours, bosses, the church,
prices, people, just anything. They also complain about YOU. They have a way of
magnifying your challenges and make you lose hope in life. Brian Tracy it is
who said, ‘Leaders think and talk about the solutions. Followers think and talk
about the problems’. Stay with these
people long enough and life will start spinning around you. They will drain you
of your emotional energy. Be a leader and keep these people at a distance.
Observe
your quiet time. Either in the morning or whatever time works for you, find
time and be alone. It’s a time to relax and connect with your God, it’s a time
to reconnect with you. Most very successful people agree that they have their
quiet time. Do this simple test. Ask any successful person you admire, what
their morning routine is like. There is a 99% chance that s/he sets aside time
to connect with God and her or himself.
Take
charge of your environment today. I wish you a fantastic week ahead.
