SINCE the last US presidential election, the media have been awash with talks and stories on the elections. Some people are yet to overcome the shock of a Donald Trump victory. I have seen and read a lot about lessons from his victory. One lesson stands out, and this piece is titled after it: ‘Don’t Build Your Life On Public Opinion’. I don’t know the original author.

Trump lost the presidential debates, twice.

Yet he won the election.

He lost the public opinion polls to Hillary by double digit margins.

Yet he won the election.

All living former American presidents opposed him.

Yet he won the election.

Top celebrities and entertainers opposed him

Yet he won the election.

Top party power brokers deserted him.

Yet he won the election.

Millions opposed him.

Yet he won the election.

Global public opinion ridiculed him.

Yet he won the election

Don't build your life around the opinions of critics.

Don't build your life on public opinion.

Public opinion is just what it is - an opinion. End of story.

Bless your critics.

Bless your haters.

Bless your opposers.

Thank God for them and curse not

Then...go for your dreams.

Regardless of public opinion, you can win, just remember Donald Trump. This is indeed a learning curve for us.

Americans have once again shown us that someone without all the so-called experience and moral cum political outlook, anyone can become president. President Obama did it in 2008 and President-Elect Donald Trump has also done it.

The question now is what are we waiting for? If Donald Trump with absolutely no political experience can become president, do we still have any excuse for not achieving your life dreams?

Recently, I was invited as a trainer in an area I’m not yet a specialist. I prepared, read and researched. I was shocked when in the post trainer evaluation, I was rated among the best trainers. How I wondered, I am not an expert in that field, and I know it. Well, no excuses. Funny as it may sound, if Trump can win, then I can deliver on that training. He has become a sort of an inspiration right. Take the ‘sense’ and leave ‘non’.
