YES it’s a new year. I’m sure you must be tired of all the noise and clatter
around a new year. You should be, because on this edition I make bold to
say, ‘Forget the New Year’, and rather focus on the ‘New You’.
Let me quickly acknowledge
Chris who shared this thought on our group page. Remember to keep sending in
your thoughts and feedback.
So why forget the new year
you may ask? Truth is, a New Year is relative... every year has the same number
of days, weeks and months (except for a LEAP Year of course). The point here is
that it is pointless to make all the fuss over a new year if nothing new comes
out of the year for you. A new year should therefore translate to a new
you…that’s what makes a new year…a new you.
A new you will no doubt determine
and define a new year. And what other way to have a new you other than having a
PDP. I ask, "What is Your PDP for 2016?". Hold on, I am not talking Nigerian
party politics here.

By PDP, I mean your
Personal Development Plans. You need a detailed, well-structured, articulated
and written plan, which you must be loyal and committed to in 2016. Do you have
such?
As a suggestion, your PDP format should include:
Spiritual
development. This is a plan that moves your relationship with Your
God and Creator to quality fellowship. This to me is the foundation of any good
and lasting success.
Mind development.
This is shown in how many mind-enhancing books you will read this year.
Remember that it is not in the number of books you read, but on the quality of
books. And try to finish any book you start. I still struggle with this part.
Professional and
Career Advancement. You should make effort to attend seminars,
conferences or workshops that advance your career. Also determine to develop or
sharpen relevant skills to enhance your profitability. Do your best to become
well sought-after. This is almost non-negotiable.
Mentors and
Coaches.
Dare I say that to come out tops in 2016, you must actively look for and get
mentors and coaches. The world as it is constituted is not meant for lone
rangers. You should therefore connect with men and women who will add great
value to your life through mentorship and coaching. Also join professional networks
or associations that will leverage your career.
TO BE CONTINUED
Whether you succeed
or not, is really in your hands. Remember that when you set the sails, God
sends the wind.
In your success
journey, what insights or tips have you acquired that you would like to share?
I would like to hear from you. Your feedback is valued.
