PEOPLE
define life differently. Our personal experiences, environment and social
interactions majorly contribute to this definition of life. Sadly, for many people, their definition of life is not only
skewed but also capable of limiting their maximal utilization of what life
offers. So I ask you, what is life like to you?
I got a picture message and
it says, ‘life is like a camera…focus on what’s
important. Capture the good times. Develop from the negatives. And if things
don’t work out, take another shot’. Waoh!
Life is like a camera. What
are the important things in your life? Are they really as important as you think?
The point here is that once we define what we consider important, like the
photographer, we should focus on it. There is a universal law I can’t pretend
to understand its workings but know it works. The things we focus on and expend
our energies on, invariably also answer for us.

Have you ever
wondered why the good you do people rarely remember but the wrong you do,
people seldom forget. In the same light, make every effort to
capture the good and happy days, no matter how far apart they may seem. It is
strange that people tend to highlight the downsides and failings...no wonder
gossip sells. Determine to look out for the so called little victories and
celebrate them, capture the good times.
Learn
to develop from the negatives. Do this quick exercise. Get a pen and paper.
Draw two columns. On one side, list your character strengths and on the other
your weaknesses and limitations. You can also seek the help of a trusted friend
to do this list. Remember to always keep the character strengths in focus,
celebrate them and build on them. And on the character limitations, research
what else you can do differently to overcome.
And
if things don’t work out, like they sometimes won’t, take another shot, try
again. Be persistent. Never say die. Were the
plans of 2015 unachieved? Let 2016 be another opportunity to try again. Tough
times never last…
Remember
that ‘life is like a camera…focus on what’s important. Capture the good times.
Develop from the negatives. And if things don’t work out, take another shot.
Many thanks to Michael, my
younger brother, Mikky, I call him, for sharing the picture message.
Whether you succeed
or not, is really in your hands. Remember that when you set the sails, God
sends the wind.
In your success
journey, what insights or tips have you acquired that you would like to share?
I would like to hear from you. Your feedback is valued.
